With the imminent release of Dracula, CRL and Pike have proved once Again that graphics add nothing to a well-constructed test-only adventure and I feel certain that Pike is destined to become a cult figure in the adventure world.

As a final word all I can say is "More please - soon".

Despite those admittedly nitpicking criticisms and reservations Dracula is great fun. Some sequences may disturb Mary Whitehouse but I can't see anyone else being affected. There's nothing in the game which is utterly grotesque and there are not stomach-lurching scenes.

Dracula is yet another example of how good text will beat poor graphics any day of the week. The atmosphere and terror created is superbly done and really does justice to the book. Certainly one of the best adventures of the year, I think that its success will be measured by a huge boom in garlic sales.

Like a good book versus a good film, both have a lot to offer, but text adventures were really onto something that's now lost to the world in any commercial sense. Level 9, Infocom, Magnetic Scrolls - interactive fiction gods of their time.

Already in its silent text form, Dracula is shaping up to be a first class adventure of its type, and will be released in three parts on two cassettes.

My only criticism of the game would be the use of arbitrary combinations of different actions that makes one problem rather tedious and a bit illogical; and its tendency to leave you where you are without a nudge now and again, if you fail to hit upon the expected action. Vocab is no problem here, it is the solution itself. Having said that, if you enjoy a cracking good horror story, with plenty of chilling descriptive passages, this is for you!

I became completely immersed in Dracula. I have not had sweaty palms through playing an adventure since I came face to face with Simchig. This is a very good trio of games which deserve to be played more than once just in case you missed out on a particular way to die first time round.

Final verdict? Impressive use of lengthy sections of text, but ultimately an adventure that promises much more than it actually delivers.

An interesting version of the story but not one worth shelling out this much for.

The text descriptions in this game are sometimes very good - scary even, if you're of a nervous disposition. And some of the pics (full screen size) are good too. But as an adventure game produced at the end or 1986 it is frankly appalling, I remember playing games in 1983 that were better programmed than this and I am totally baffled at CRL's decision to market it. No wonder people wonder what adventuring is all about if they get landed with stuff like this - a fervent sign of the cross should be made at anyone trying to flog you a copy.
