Video Games (Apr, 2000)
IGN (Feb 29, 2000)
In the end, Resident Evil is Carrier's best friend and worst enemy. On the one hand, Carrier's very foundation is based on that built by RE -- Without it, the game wouldn't be here. On the other hand, Carrier (as well as any other entry in this niche genre) will always be standing in RE's shadow. After all of these philosophical ramblings, however, we find that Carrier is nothing short of a top-notch contender in the field, with solid play mechanics to go around and enough new ideas to make it stand alone. The game isn't very hard, but the flow never stops, so rest assured your interest will be piqued from the beginning to the end. It's definitely more than a tease of what's to come upon next month's release of Code Veronica, and fans of the genre are encouraged to check it out.
Mega Fun (Apr, 2000)

Planet Dreamcast (Mar 09, 2000)
While Carrier may not have the name recognition of a Resident Evil, it does have everything else that a fan of survival horror videogames could want, such as a scary plot, creepy monsters, and decent controls. Try Carrier out for yourself, and you'll have a Dreamcast-style barometer to use when measuring Resident Evil: Code Veronica next month.

Defunct Games (Dec 19, 2004)
If you find yourself debating on whether to buy this game or not consider a few things first: The game is fun and has its highlights, but does not produce as much enjoyment an older RE version would. However, if you’re tired of unoriginal storylines, or the inability to see every aspect of a single area, the game may be worth purchasing. A final determining factor should be the price. As most stores do not rent Dreamcast games anymore it will become the simple decision of buying Carrier or not.
Game Revolution (Mar 01, 2000)
Some people may call Carrier just a Resident Evil wannabe, but in truth, Jaleco's latest has just enough originality in it to stand on its own. While it is definitely no RE, the Carrier experience is a good one that will tide you horror adventure fans over until Codename Veronica drops.
GameSpot (Feb 18, 2000)
There are several minor points of contention too, such as bombs sometimes vanish if you're interrupted during a countdown and the fact that some enemies are so slow that the only way they can get you is if you stop to shoot them. These are not major problems in and of themselves, but along with the slowdown and the constant backtracking, they do add up. In the end, Carrier isn't an awful game, and it really does manage to grow on you after a while, but it definitely has problems. It's worth buying if you're an absolute survival-horror nut, but otherwise you might want to look into picking it up as a rental.
Gaming Age (2000)
There really isn't much bad to be found in the game. My only complaint is that it lacks the sense of style that games such as RE and Dino Crisis contain. The design is a bit on the generic side in my opinion. Graphically, there is some occasional slowdown when certain effects occur, though nothing that has become a gameplay issue.

Ok, by the name I thought this would be some sort of airplane combat game, heh, doh ! It's a Resident Evil clone ! It looks like now zoombies are taking over the gaming scene, no more humans to shoot, just these god damn motherfucking zombies. Although I played it for little time, it seems a real nice game, if you like Resident Evil clones, then you should try this one, visuals are excellent and sound is good too, although it's not much involving.
Carrier does have it's high points, but on a console with Resident Evil: Code Veronica, it really never stood a chance. A rental would be a worthwhile endeavor, but it's not worth a purchase. The unforgivable control system and weak health power-ups bring it down just enough to put it into the category of "mediocre."
Gamers' Republic (Apr, 2000)
Carrier is by no means a bad game. Using the Resident Evil blueprint, it's collected most of the pieces, but just doesn't know how to properly put them together.
The Video Game Critic (Oct 28, 2008)
What a load of crap! Equally irritating is how you can't step over zombies lying in the hallways, which often tend to block your path. Carrier does have a nifty auto-aim feature, and the handy "run" button makes it easy to back-track around the ship. The vibration function is nice, and you get a steady diet of health supplements and save points. Carrier is not up to Resident Evil standards, but if you're a survival horror freak in the mood for something different, give this one a shot.
