Hidden & Dangerous is certainly a great game but whether it will appeal to the action-crazed console market remains to be seen. We can only hope.

Gaming Target (Jul 05, 2001)
While the awesome missions and sound effects give it hope for greatness, the other flaws such as the controls and graphics dash a lot of the potential this game had. World War II buffs and fans of the Rainbow Six series (Rogue Spear included) will definitely enjoy Hidden and Dangerous, however, I can’t imagine a regular gamer enjoying it as much as I do. So, if you enjoyed the Rainbow Six Series and you passed your history class, then you might consider purchasing this one. For everyone else though, take some left over lunch money and go rent Hidden and Dangerous.

GameSpot (Aug 30, 2000)
In the end, Hidden and Dangerous for the Dreamcast does little to improve upon the same product presented for the PC, and if you have already played Hidden and Dangerous for the PC, the Dreamcast version doesnt offer much new. But those willing to overlook AI and interface issues (and fans of the Rainbow Six-style action games) would do well to check out Hidden and Dangerous.

IGN (Aug 15, 2000)
Hidden & Dangerous is a lot better on paper than in reality. Certain positive aspects aside, there are just too many detractors to save this one from being anything but an average title. With your cash better spent on Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six (or better yet, one of those classic X-Com computer games in your local PC bargain bin), the only thing that may be "hidden and dangerous" after a session of Talonsoft's latest, is you waiting for your local retailer to give you a refund.

Still, in spite of its shortcomings, Hidden and Dangerous is a compelling game, especially if you're tired of all the run and gun action of most 3D shooters. It doesn't measure up to Rainbow Six for gameplay, and the controls are complex, but Hidden and Dangerous can give you a fun run for the money.

Gameplanet (Nov 06, 2000)
Faults aside, Hidden & Dangerous fills a gap in the Dreamcast library, as there really weren't any stealth-oriented first person shooters available until now. An extremely good port of an average PC game, Hidden and Dangerous is guaranteed to provide a good many hours of strategic gameplay based in an excellent World War II environment.

Planet Dreamcast (Aug 15, 2000)
For a simulation of combat during a conflict known as "the last great war", this is one incredibly lame game. When it isn't busy being ugly or hard to control, it seems to take great joy in killing you without allowing you the chance to first defend yourself. For a game that strives to be (and could have been) the Rainbow Six of WWII, this is a real letdown.

Mega Fun (Sep, 2000)

Defunct Games (May 15, 2005)
Hidden & Dangerous attempts to walk the tenuous line between simulation and action shooter, but doesn't feel right doing either. While the difficulty curve ramps up in a hurry, your stuck with the same buggy execution throughout. And with your team out of the mix, there's no one to turn to for help. The World War II setting gives it some mileage, but without any multiplayer features to speak of, I can't imagine many wanting to replay through this fairly lengthy game. Positive moments are few and far between in this lackluster effort. I would suggest interested parties explore all the Rainbow Six material before entering this battle.
