Driver: San Francisco is the mobile version of the console and PC game. The game plays similarly to the previous mobile Driver game, Driver L.A. Undercover, which in turn is similar to the Asphalt series from the same company. This means the game uses a mix of 2D sprites and 3D objects, the acceleration is automatic and that nitro boosts can be collected and used for extra speed. The main difference is that the game is all about driving, with no shooting sequences. In addition to the story missions there is now also a free ride mode where the player more freely can roam the city. In the free ride mode there are various challenges and missions that the can take part of and earn cash in. Money can then be used to acquire new cars and upgrades but those first have to be unlocked.
