Description
Dungeonette is a homage to 1980s dungeon crawlers, in particular, the ZX Spectrum / BBC Micro title
Atic Atac. The game is viewed from a bird's-eye view perspective, with a 4-way directional movement and a single button firing control.
You play a knight who must fight through a labyrinth of 3 levels (totalling 91 rooms) in order to slay the 'Evil Reaper'. Many of the rooms contain at least one enemy, which you must defeat by throwing an unlimited supply of projectiles, including knives and axes, with each enemy requiring multiple hits. The enemies themselves have no projectile weapons and can only damage you by chasing and touching you.
Throughout the game, items can be collected. These include: armour (temporary shield), gold and green keys (to unlock room doors or level exits respectively), food (to replenish damage sustained by enemies or traps such as floor spikes), boots (to create path) and gold coins (to boost your score).
The game ends when you enter the Reaper's room and hit him multiple times whilst avoiding being touched.
