This entry in M2's Shot Triggers series marks the first-ever time that Cave's classic shmup ESP Ra.De.: A.D. 2018 Tokyo is available for a home system. It bundles an arcade-perfect port of the original game along with a number of new features.
The new "Arcade Plus" mode features a new playable character, Alice Master, in addition to the original cast. An updated in-game story features a more expansive story than the original game, and characters are depicted by new artwork by original illustrator Shinya Inoue. The scoring system has also been adjusted.
The "Esper's Room" feature gives players a room inhabited by the three characters; completing short missions unlocks new decorations and pieces of furniture for the room, pets, and even fashion items for the characters.
Like in Ketsui Deathtiny: Kizuna Jigoku Tachi, an "Arcade Challenge" mode divides each stage up into small parts and encourages players to master each segment of the game. Players can rewind after mistakes to retry, and a built-in replay feature shows players the last five seconds of gameplay before making a mistake.
