Description
Eurofighter Typhoon is the successor to
Total Air War.
In a near feature, and in a surprising move, Russia quickly invades the eastern countries of Europe. Iceland is the next one of the list, however NATO has basically abandoned the country in an attempt to protect the Western countries of Europe. The ICEFOR is outnumbered, but is able to deploy a small number of the new Typhoon aircraft. It's up to you to turn the tide of the war.
The game entitles you to take over the destiny of six pilots. Each one will be assigned different missions depending on their abilities - such as bombing, interception, Wild Weasel - several of these missions even going on at the same time. You are able to switch at any time between your pilots, taking charge of the most critical and dangerous tasks of the mission, and leaving up to the AI the others. As the war goes on, each pilot can be injured, lost behind enemy lines after an unlucky ejection and waiting for the rescue helicopters, or taken prisoner and even be interrogated by the Russians.
The game also features an extensive virtual battleground over Iceland. A dynamic camera enables you to watch the war in real-time - should it be Gripens dogfighting with Su-27s, Apaches attacking tanks or Tornados going on bombing runs.
As the war unfolds, news will be delivered by an online newspaper, so be prepared to read the headline "a new failure for the ICEFOR" quite a lot of times.

Trivia
Development
As
DID was bought by
Rage during the development of
Eurofighter Typhoon, the game actually resulted in a tradeoff: while it was originally designed to be an hardcore simulation, it ended up being made easier for more casual gamers (or as some people say, "dumbed down").
For instance, the contrast between the very extensive dynamic campaign and the simplistic flight model is very noticeable.
