Description
Die Gilde is the official third part of Germany's popular historical business simulation series
Die Fugger. You are a trader in the emerging middle-class of Europe in the 1400s. You choose your profession and set off on in life. You control your shop, whether it be a church or a tavern, a alchemist shop or an iron smith. You produce goods and try to sell them for reasonable prices at local markets.
As your wealth and influence in your city grows, and if you are very daring, you can delve into political life, initially becoming a lowly spy and building your way up to Mayor, Archbishop, even Sovreign. You can get married and have children to continue your dynasty.
All this success makes your rivals jealous, and they will do whatever they can to degrade you and your name. However, you can do it all back.

When lead developer
Lars Martensen ("Don"), who posted tech support regularly on the publisher
JoWooD's forums, posted a message saying the marketing in the US was poor, he was banned from posting on the English forums. This led to a massive campaign to reinstate Don to the boards. As of 2003, without result.
Title
This game was originally named
Die Fugger 3 during its development. It has to be renamed because of a provisional measure of a German court decision initiated by a descendant of the original fugger family. He feared defamation of his name due to the fact that you can also chose a criminal path in the game.
Town Name
The German version of the game features the towns Augsburg, Berlin, Dresden, Hannover und Köln (Cologne). All towns beside Berlin were replace by London, Madrid, Milan and Paris for the release in other languages.
