Overall this title is miles above Wipeout XL, which everyone has been comparing XG to, and playing theme side by side at home you can really see, hear and feel the difference. This game shows what the N64 can really do, and what you can produce with a little hard work, effort, and ingenuity.
Un must.
X64 (Dec, 1997)

Was wipEout angeht, so liegt Extreme-g um einige Längen vorn.

I walked away from this game feeling like I've just been to "Extreme-G: The Ride" at a major theme park. The experience is simply incredible, and although its is not alone in its class (F-Zero X is coming and Wipeout XL is also a wonderful game) its probably the best thus far.

If you didn't know by now, I support the XG revolution. Come join at super-human speeds, inhumane weapons that go boom in the night, and the best locales this side of Jamaica and Mars put together. There's even a track that looks like Mars Attacks meets The Wizard of OZ...I'm not makin' that up either-track12-last one. In case you didn't know this either, XG rumbles, comes prepared for controller paks of all kinds, dishes out passwords for those poor folks, comes equipped with secret bikes, and tons upon tons of cheats. Can you say the Roach bike in wireframe mode?

Extreme G will Keep N64 racers sated until F-Zero 64 debuts. While it's not the deepest or most original racing, it will still take you on a fun ride.
Nintendojo (May 26, 2003)
Extreme G is brilliantly designed racer. I would prefer this game to anyone who likes F-zero or just wants something to keep them busy while waiting for F-zero. Sure the battle mode sucks but just the racing part is fun enough for me. If you are trying to decide whether or not to get this game, rent it because not everybody will like it. We'll see how F-zero does in the future, until then, I have Extreme G.
Nintendojo (May 26, 2003)
Yes, another racer, but this one is different enough to stand out in what can be called a slew of racing games on or coming to the Nintendo 64. What other racer has this kind of speed, with 12+ tracks that loop, and great weaponry that always makes fun in four player mode. Put that helmet on and get ready burn rubber, er, uh, scrape metal that is!
Mega Score (Feb, 1998)
Nintendojo (Dec 15, 2003)
XG is a game with a lot of replay value, and a lot of N64 power. It's fast, fun, and competitive. If you like racing games, and multiplayer games, I advice you to check it out. It's one title, you probably want to add to your small, but growing N64 collection!
GameSpot (Oct 30, 1997)
In all, Extreme G is a good, solid title that stacks up in both single-player and multiplayer mode. If you're still starved for titles for your Nintendo 64, here's one of the few that won't leave you feeling dirty the morning after.
Combining racing and shooting may not be new, but Extreme-G doesn't feel like just a futuristic version of Mario Kart 64. Extreme-G delivers the thrill of speed, and the satisfaction of multi-player and time trial modes should give it good replay value. Just don't expect a deeply strategic game experience.
IGN (Oct 24, 1997)
All in all, Extreme-G is a slick arcade racer that proves yet again that Acc"lame" was a joke you won't be hearing again for quite a while. The control and framerates needed a bit more work, but the number of tracks and pure speed make this game stand out from the rest. If you like simulation and more realistic racing games, you might want to rent it first -- but if you've ever felt like blasting your little brother out of the sky with a Laser Limpet Mine (and I'm sure there is not one older brother who hasn't at least considered the option), get this game!
Retrogaming History (Oct 07, 2009)
Nintendojo (May 26, 2003)
In the end, Extreme G delivers but still manages to fall short of being anything really special. Still, it definitely adds to the ever growing racer genre for the N64, and comes away as a solid title, though probably not for everyone.

Pamietacie "Wipeouta"? Oto jest i jego nintendowska wersja. Kilka futurystycznie skrojonych motorow do wyboru. Kilkanascie dobrze narysowanych tras, nawiazujacych forma do stylu cyberpunk. Istna orgia swiatel, mgiel i kolorow. Wiele broni. I ta chrzaniona szybkosc, ktora bywa fajna, lecz czesto psuje zabawe. Przypomina sie "TRON" i gra "Lightcycle". Podobne aerodynamiczne, polokragle skutery, podobnie szalona predkosc (jakies 300 mil na godzine) i rownie czeste zderzenia.
