Fairy Tale about Father Frost, Ivan and Nastya is a point-and-click adventure game with 2D graphics.
The game tells the story of two young people, named Nastya and Ivan. Nastya has been living similarly to Cinderella since her father married again and her mean stepmother tyrannises her. Then some day she meets the courageous, but egocentric Ivan, who has been travelling around and looking for a bride, and they fall in love. But the two get separated quickly as the spirits of the forest punish Ivan for several deeds he has done in the past in his ignorance of the world around him. The player hereby alternately takes control of Ivan and Nastya as the two are trying to find each other.
The game is significantly inspired by the fairy-tale movie Father Frost (Морозко), created in Soviet Union in 1964 and released as English-dubbed version in USA in September, 1966. Directed by Aleksandr Rou, a genius of fairy-tale genre, the Czech-dubbed version of this movie also became a cult classic in Czechoslovakia (currently Czech Republic and Slovakia), where it is shown on TV during most of New Year Eves since its release. Due to these facts in general, the game was created by a Czech-based team and visual appearances of the characters, environments, and a large part of the plot in the game is transferred directly from the movie.
