Overall, this game was just about everything I wanted from an iPhone game. It’s challenging, has great graphics, great sound effects, and makes me want to play forever. This is the kind of game that will always have a place on my iPhone, no matter how many other games crowd my system. Whether you are looking for a fun strategy game or just a great way to blow a few minutes, Fieldrunners is amazing.
Foncez !

The darling of the early iPhone gaming scene, Fieldrunners is a masterful Tower Defense-style game expertly converted to the PSP platform with a few extra bells and whistles. The analog stick zooms, the d-pad moves around the playing field and the triggers are used to select your various towers, of which there are plenty enough to portray a deep set of gameplay mechanics. Yes, we’ve all played TD games before (and PixelJunk Monsters turned the whole thing around anyway) but Fieldrunners is a supreme example of how to make a PSP Minis game – for £4 you get a massive amount of game here, with loads of levels, near endless replayability and some fantastic graphics (although on full zoom they lack a little sharpness). Absolutely the best of the launch titles in our opinion, and one that should be right at the top of the list for anyone wanting to see what all the fuss is about. Lets hope multiplayer gets patched in at some point, even if we have to pay for it.

Fieldrunners is a stellar example of handheld games development. The simple premise and slick controls make it easy to get into, yet to truly master it takes days. You can play it for 15 minutes while waiting in a queue or for a whole hour commute. Either way, wars of attrition have never been so much fun.

If you are a tower defense veteran you will enjoy Fieldrunners. If you are new to tower defense then you couldn’t start off on a better title then Fieldrunners. The only downside is a lot of other tower defense games will seem a little lackluster in comparison. The amount of polish on Fieldrunners makes it shine in every aspect. You might just have to wear sunglasses to play it.

With a clean, pleasing visual style and gameplay that reveals its nuances through natural play, Fieldrunners is a wonderfully crafted casual nugget. It's a shame that more hasn't been added for this version, but that's no reason not to surrender to its charm.

Well worth the price and a must have if you are a fan of time consuming games or tower defence/strategy games.

There are no shortage of tower defense games out there, but just as it is with iPhone and PSP, Fieldrunners is undeniably one of the pack leaders. The mobile version performs as admirably as it does on the bigger formats, and now establishes Subatomic Studio as a major player on the mobile front, too.

If you enjoy strategy and defense games, Fieldrunners is a must have. Even if you have never played a Tower Defense game before, this title will bring you up to speed in no time. Spending $4.99 on a game that plays as well as it looks is money well spent. Due to the lack of sound and levels at this time, Fieldrunners receives our Grab this App rating, just barely missing the top prize.
Nintendo DSiNintendo Life (Feb 11, 2010)
Even with the online components removed, Fieldrunners is still very fun and addictive tower defence game and a welcome addition to the DSiWare library. There’s hours of fun to be had here, and even if you’re reaching the genre saturation point it's worth a look.

LinuxSoftpedia (Sep 05, 2012)
Fieldrunners is an old game and it shows. The graphics are static and faded, animations are simple and the music is extremely repetitive. Even so, the game manages to provide a modicum of entertainment and I can recommend it to all you TD fans out there. You know who you are!
