This version of FIFA 14 is designed for touch-based mobile devices. Unlike previous mobile games in the series, it is a free-to-play title. Initially, only the Ultimate Team mode is available while other modes such as friendlies, tournaments, and the manager mode have to be unlocked by buying a premium pack.
The game can be played with the same d-pad and buttons controls as previous games in the series but it also adds a new touch-based control method. With it players are moved by holding and dragging, passing is done by tapping a team-mate, and shooting is done by swiping towards the goal. While defending, tapping pressures a player while swiping is used for sliding tackles. The classic controls work in the same way as in FIFA 13.
