The Fiscal Ship
Description
The Fiscal Ship is an educational game where the player's objective is to put the United States' federal budget on a sustainable course. The game involves enacting policies that reduce spending or increase tax revenue while at the same meeting the governing goals that the player chooses.
The game starts out with the player choosing three goals or lets the game choose three random goals. The player develops a plan by choosing which policies to approve. Clicking on a policy brings up an explanation as well as arguments for and against it. If the policies are beneficial to the goals the player will earn stars and the ultimately aim is to earn three stars for each goal. At the same time a preview of the projected level of debt is shown and it changes with each choice. The game is won when the goals are met and the target debt level is reached.
