Scientists thought it was a disease, but those who believed in their cures only died in hospitals. The clergy thought it was a curse from God, but those who believed in their prayers only died in churches. Whatever this evil force is, you have so far been spared of its touch, but you are tired of running away. Whatever happens, with an entire city of zombies heading in your direction, you decide that the next town you find will be where you'll make a stand.
Fort Zombie is a focused-scope, casual action RPG that takes place in the small town of Piety, Indiana, on a version of Earth that is being invaded by zombies. The town is randomly generated each time the player enters it and the focus of the game is building up your "fort" - which can be the school, the prison or the police station, each having its own strengths and weaknesses - in order to ultimately withstand the large zombie swarm heading your way. On top of that, the player must choose between a variety of daytime missions that consist of searching the town in order to improve character stats, gather supplies and find and "collect" other NPC survivors in order to put their skills to use. However, zombies roam during the day as well and careless players can easily find themselves overwhelmed during their daily missions.
The technology used to randomly generate the town is being developed by the studio for its upcoming space trading title. In fact, Fort Zombie was originally developed as a technology test, when the team considered that their engine had reached a level that allowed it to be used for a simple game.
