Consoles Plus (Feb, 2001)
Any parents who are looking for "safe" games for their children should consider this one. It's a good game for little kids to play, because it's non-violent. It also exercises the mind a bit by having the player solve various puzzles and come up with solutions for the problems that Casper runs into. There is no point-and-click solution in this game, and you can't blow away the enemy with your guns or kick your way out of it. The only way to win is by using problem-solving skills, making it a worthy purchase for children bored with traditional Game Boy Color offerings.
Total! (Germany) (Nov, 2000)
IGN (May 31, 2000)
Casper is a well-conceived game that just can't get out of its own mire. Puzzle maze challenges need some variety, some exciting events, some graphic touches, and some new challenges to entice gamers, and Casper unfortunately has little of that. Even battles with bosses are dull and remote. This is the mirror image of Casper -- you know the ghost there, but you can't see or touch it.
GameSpot (Jun 12, 2000)
Overall, Casper is a game seeking the right audience. For children from age 5 to 12, many fun hours of friendly haunting await. For adolescents and adults, however, there are better choices in the genre, namely Nintendo's Zelda DX or the upcoming Crystalis. Casper's two hours of total gaming isn't for everyone.
