Spider-Man 3: Invasion of the Spider-Slayers
Description
One day, Spider-Man is out doing his usual routine of keeping the city clean from muggers and skateboarders, when he is attacked by robots! Spider-Man must figure out who is behind the robot attack and put a stop to it in his third Game Boy adventure.
Gameplay this time around is very similar to Spider-Man 2: Spider-Man's various moves, such as web slinging and kicks, will allow him to fight off foes and advance through the side-scrolling levels. Those levels have a time limit and some of them are auto-scrolling or consist of a boss fight.

The Good
The Amazing Spider-Man 3: Invasion of the Spider-Slayers is based on an actual comic book storyline where, while being reunited with his long lost parents, Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man had to battle a series of hi-tech robots bent on his destruction.
The Bad
The Amazing Spider-Man (1990) for the original, black and white Game Boy was not the most original game, in terms of game play, but it did feature above average graphics, sound, control and a story line that seemed, for fans, plausible. Yet, the two horrific sequels that followed featured tiny, hard-to-see graphics, poor control, a difficulty level that is simply insane and some grammatical oddities.
The Bottom Line
The Amazing Spider-Man 3: Invasion of the Spider-Slayers had potential, but makes all of the same mistakes seen with the Amazing Spider-Man 2. Only die hard Spider-Man fans will want to give this one a try and they may find themselves cursing the day that LJN got a hold of Marvel Comics characters.

The Good
The game is based a story line from the comics. This is a nice alternative to saving a damsel in distress or being framed for a bank robbery. In the comics, Spider-Man had to figure out who was sending robots to kill him, while reuniting with his parents. Sadly, the story is pretty much the only nice thing in this video game.
The Bad
Spider-Man 3 has the same sort of problems as Spider-Man 2. The characters are tiny, causing eye strain. The game play mechanics are too complicated and non-responsive. Spider-Man is hard to look at, hard to control and not much fun to play.
The Bottom Line
Spider-Man 3 will disappoint comic fans as well as gamers in general. Its a bogus platformer.

The game's title and plot is a direct adaptation of the "Invasion of the Spider-Slayers" storyline, which ran in Amazing Spider-Man, Volume 1, Issues #368 through #373.
