Commodore 64Computer and Video Games (CVG) (Apr, 1988)
Guadalcanal is a good and interesting wargame, that would have been even better with a two player option.
It's fun to play and would serve as a great introduction to the genre for budding wargamers, though the seasoned strategist could find the game's limitations a little severe.
Commodore 64Zzap! (Feb, 1988)
There's enough going on to demand the player's full attention and ingenuity, and it's certainly an interesting and satisfying challenge.
Commodore 64The Games Machine (UK) (Feb, 1988)
Computer intelligence is on a high level of efficiency, using hidden movement to attack under cover of darkness whist retreating back to port when seriously damaged. But Guadalcanal is somewhat disappointing release, it has the skeleton of a great game but lacks sufficient substance.
Amstrad CPCASM (Aktueller Software Markt) (Dec, 1987)
