Overall, there’s nothing to really fault Gunslugs 2 on. Sure, it’s not very long, but then what do you expect for a fiver? It’s not particularly difficult either, but it’s not supposed to be that sort of game. There is some repetition in the levels, but its the right amount to keep things entertaining. It’s supposed to be fun and a bit silly – and it is, in just the right amount!

If you’re a fan of arcade run-and-gun shooters like this, and don’t mind a bit of messy gameplay, then you should give Gunslugs 2 a try.

Explosif, addictif, totalement efficace...

Gunslugs 2 ($2.99, Universal) offers over the top action, and fun that is well worth the price of admission.

But aside from this really minor snafu Gunslugs 2 is great fun. Wild, crazy, and chaotic it’s a blast to play.

A sharp and well put together shooter, Gunslugs 2 might be a little too crazy for some, but it's definitely worth a look.

Seriously though, Gunslugs 2 is really entertaining. There are some sticking points when it comes to the content. As it stands, there aren’t that many weapons in the game and the formulaic “destroy enough towers to spawn a chopper ride to the next destination” gameplay can get a little tiresome. This is especially true when the game ramps up in difficulty, forcing you to restart levels over and over. Also, there’s no co-op mode (for shame). The randomly generated levels, nods to pop culture, and daily challenges are worth getting over these issues though. Jumping in for a few minutes here or there is the way to go. Seeing as how it was on a mobile platform (and now a handheld) I’d guess that’s what Orangepixel expected.

Not without a few flaws, Gunslugs 2 is fast, fun, and frantic. It's definitely worth checking out for fans of arcade-style, run-and-gun games looking for something to tickle their nostalgia bone.

Gunslugs 2 strikes me as a game that won’t appeal to everyone, but most people could derive some enjoyment from it. It’s one of the most frantic games I’ve ever played, and I admit to enjoying much of my time with it. Yet, I also feel I felt into what will undoubtedly be the second camp of people who thought there would be a little more thought and skill involved in the effort. Typically, run and gun games challenge me, leaving me feeling like I need to keep playing to get better. With Gunslugs 2, I felt like I wasn’t gradually getting better by learning nuances, and was instead succeeding by giving in to button masher tendencies. It’s entertaining, but the exact value will vary from person to person.
Nintendo 3DSNintendoWorldReport (Nov 15, 2015)
Gunslugs 2 brings mindless fun to the screens of the Nintendo 3DS. The presentation and gameplay are great, but it does feel pretty mindless most of the time. I can appreciate why they have done this, but it feels like I am missing something. Even bigger is the lack of leaderboards, which could have made the game infinitely replayable. If you are fully aware of what you are getting yourself into, it is more than likely that you will have a good time!
iPhoneTouch Arcade (Jan 15, 2015)
Gunslugs 2 is a unique run 'n gun game, for better or for worse, but considering that not many developers are trying to take the modern run 'n gun crown, if shooting enemies by the hundreds sounds like a rollicking good time, then check this out.

It’s hard to pin down whether to just let go and enjoy this one or not, it’s a capable game, it’s funny in parts even. For me it’s just a foreboding feeling of being there and done that for me in general however and the games I have played before similar have always been better. However having said that there isn’t much like this for the 3DS and the price point is decent so it might be a good option to scratch an itch for action fans really!
Nintendo 3DSFNintendo (Nov 17, 2015)
Nintendo 3DSNintendo Life (Oct 22, 2015)
Gunslugs 2 is a welcome addition to the 3DS eShop, providing enjoyable short bursts of mayhem. There's little thought or strategy required as you gun down foes and cause enormous explosions, meaning it's utterly mindless fun. It's not necessarily the most solid gameplay experience on an objective level, with the chaos being occasionally tough to manage or understand, but it's a good way to have some quick thrills on the portable.
Nintendo (Dec 09, 2015)
Overall, I enjoyed my time with Gun Slugs 2 and had tons of fun. Gun Slugs 2 is a very simplistic game but kept me entertained from beginning to end with varied enemies, weapons and environments. The glitches are minor, but at its core, it's a very fun action game that I can recommend you download from the Nintendo’s 3DS e-shop.
Windows3rd Strike (Apr 23, 2015)
Gunslugs 2 is a mediocre game at best for a 2D platform action-packed shooter in the chaos genre. The retro-styled pixilated visuals and the upbeat chiptune soundtrack are one of the best features this game has to offer. But there are some serious downsides to the game as well. Sound vanishes at random and the game has plenty of missing features, which were implemented in the first game but lost in the second iteration. Other than that, Gunslugs 2 is a decent enough game worth its low price.
Nintendo 3DSGamersFTW (Nov 22, 2015)
Gunslugs 2 is what it is, a mindless 2D side-scrolling shooter accompanied by an over the top 80’s plot and filled with classic quips. The random level generation plus just the chaotic nature of the gameplay can pit you in cruel, difficult situations and the extra modes don’t really warrant a second visit. That said the simplified gameplay means you don’t have to think too hard about it which makes it ideal for killing a short period of time.
Nintendo 3DSFamily Friendly Gaming (2015)
I also like the different modes in the main screen of Gunslugs 2 (Daily Challenge and Arcade). It feels like walking around a base. If you are at least a teenager who can handle excessive amounts of violence then Gunslugs 2 may be to your liking. Fans of games like Contra will take an interest in Gunslugs 2. Please note that the old Contra game actually have better graphics than Gunslugs 2.
Nintendo 3DS3DS Pedia (Nov 05, 2015)
Gunslugs 2 is not completely bad; the art direction is pretty and lovable, though the boss designs have no appeal. The soundtrack is also good, though the game has only one soundtrack to begin with. Nintendo 3DS port is actually a wise idea since it has better physical control than playing the game with touchscreen – you also have a nice 3D view special to Nintendo 3DS. If you care to try, you may purchase the game for $4.99 on the Nintendo 3DS eShop.
Nintendo 3DSPure Nintendo (Oct 22, 2015)
Overall, I found Gunslugs II to be dragged down by tedium. This 3DS port is also subpar, with ineffective 3D, and some sizable control quirks. It’s also double the price on 3DS versus mobile. There’s some short-term fun here for sure, but I’ll wait for Orangepixels’ next 3DS game. Hopefully it will reflect less haphazard design, and fare better in the porting process.
