Many a child believes that if only they dig for long enough, they'll make their way to China. This game allows you to fulfill that dream.

In Dig to China the player controls a miner, who hopes to mine his way to the other side of the planet. The player controls the miner by having him dig in any direction, though he cannot go upwards. On the way, the miner comes across various minerals and riches embedded in the earth -- gold, iron, uranium, and others, different in various layers -- which are accumulated and can be used to buy upgrades in-between digging attempts. There is a strict time limit to each digging attempt, which can be replenished by collecting time bonuses; but, since the rock is hard, the mattock is weak, and the deeper geological strata are tougher to dig in, success on the first try is unlikely. Once time runs out, the miner must resume digging again from the top.

The upgrade shop, available between attempts, helps in making the dream a reality. For various minerals, the player can buy: bombs to be used at will to immediately remove a chunk of rock, a longer time limit, better mattocks which allow faster digging, higher frequency of "pack moles" -- animals which dig through several layers of the ground with no time penalty, drills which can be used to quickly skip the first few layers of earth, and an Indiana Jones-style outfit which "does nothing, looks slick".

In the mobile versions, digging all the way to China unlocks a bonus speedrun mode, where, starting the game from the beginning, you try to make it to China as fast as possible.
