Fans of the PC version will love that they have an excuse to play this again, newcomers to the genre or someone looking for a really fun game full of humour will find solace in Plants vs. Zombies.
Touch Arcade (Feb 14, 2010)
The iPhone port is absolutely phenomenal, and even though it's lacking a few game modes, there's always hope for them to be implemented in the future either via an update or a DLC add-on. There isn't a lite version, but there is a free Flash demo that I highly recommend trying if this is the first you've heard of Plants vs. Zombies.
Destructoid (Mar 01, 2010)
What really makes this game is that it's portable and playable anywhere. By simply exiting out of a match the game will save, letting you pick right back up whenever you have a free second. Unless you hate tower defense style games, this is a must buy, no question. The real kicker here is that this fantastic game is only $2.99. What are you waiting for?
Slide to Play (Feb 14, 2010)
This absorbing and unique take on tower defense, or “flower defense”, is brimming with personality.

So, occasional frame rate issues aside, there's nothing bad to say about Plants vs. Zombies for iPhone. The gameplay is just as well-balanced and finely tuned as it is in the PC version. The presentation is up to the same high standards, while the control system is perhaps even improved. Like so many PopCap titles, PvZ is slick, pretty, charming and funny. If the games industry was one big party, I'd get off with it.

In an age crowded with zombie games and tower defense games, Plants Vs. Zombies manages to stand out by taking a completely unique approach. This is a humorous and addicting casual game, far from the tense and gory experience found in most zombie games. It’s great to see a fresh take on zombies and it’s obvious that Pop Cap went to great lengths to carve a niche in the genre. Humorous characters, a huge variety of enemies, and a healthy dose of difficulty help to eliminate tedium and place Plants Vs. Zombies right up there with Bejeweled and Peggle.

Calm Down Tom (Feb 21, 2011)
Despite some minor criticisms, Plants vs Zombies is the perfect example of why casual games can appeal to hardcore gamers too. Conceptually original, easy to learn and with considerable depth, its a must play, no matter what platform you choose to play it on. I’d be willing to bet they could even make a compelling board game out of it. What…they have?!?
Modojo (Feb 24, 2010)
That's a good thing, though. Plants Vs. Zombies is another must-have game for the iPhone/iPod Touch, especially at the more-than-acceptable asking price of three bucks.

Overall there’s a lot of game here. Well made for those that like to sit down and play for hours or just play in quick bursts. If you enjoy strategy games, you’ll enjoy Plants vs. Zombies. And at $2.99, it’s a steal.
