GameZebo (Nov 05, 2013)
Will you stick with the rescue of the Nine Worlds long enough to collect them all? Only you can answer that, and it’s worth noting that Thor: The Dark World is free to download. It’s got the looks to be the game that Thor deserves; it just still doesn’t nail the feel. Maybe next time, Odinson.

Unfortunately, Thor: The Dark World is a pretty mediocre game at its core. It’s repetitive, messy, buggy, and the controls are terribly clunky. Add to the mix the insane amount of currency required to get anywhere worthwhile in the game, and the need for repetitive grinding, and Thor: The Dark World fails to live up to expectations.
Apple 'n' Apps (Nov 06, 2013)
Thor: The Dark World (Free, Universal) epitomizes the problems with movie tie-ins, and freemium style to deliver a rudimentary experience that isn’t worth your time.
App Spy (Nov 04, 2013)
You can upgrade everything - weapons, costumes, support troops - but the upgrades are cynically overpriced. Worst of all, they do nothing to remedy the game's awkward controls and confused combat, leaving Thor: The Dark World an unworthy addition to mythology of its namesake.
Touch Arcade (Nov 04, 2013)
Unfortunately, in the final tally, Thor's a pretty mediocre game on its own merits, even without taking the crushing monetization aspects into account. It's repetitive, it's missing its final world, and it's buggy. Add the insane amounts of premium currency or grinding required to have a decent chance of seeing the game through, and you've got a recipe for disaster. I'm not going to say I was entirely happy with the model in play in Gameloft's Iron Man 3 [Free] from earlier this year, but Thor: The Dark World is even more of a grind, with less enjoyable base gameplay. Even Marvel's game is better than this.
