Air Strike 1944: Flight for Freedom
Description
Air Strike 1944 is a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up similar to Gameloft's earlier Siberian Strike series which it also shares characters with. Although the game takes place in war time Europe, it is a highly fictional take on World War II with the objective being to save the continent from the dictator Darkstein. The game starts out in England with the player having to liberate London before moving through an underwater tunnel to Normandy. Ultimately the aim is to reach Darkstein's castle and hidden hidden base in Germany.
The gameplay is almost identical to the Siberian Strike games. By destroying enemies power ups that increase fire power and medals that give extra points can be collected. Other pick ups include shields, missiles attacks and extra lives. In addition to regular fire the player also has access to a mega bomb that kills everything on the screen. The game has a total of nine levels, some of which end with a boss fight. There are also a few slalom levels where the player has to maneuver through tunnels without crashing.
