Game Players (Sep, 1995)
Still, FlipOut! is a good game, which is something you don't see everyday for the Jaguar. It's a welcome addition to any Jaguar library.
Mega Fun (Oct, 1995)
Flip Out = “Ausflippen“?
Game Zero (Oct, 1995)
This is an intriguing puzzle game. I like the concept, but I found it much too easy. The challenge doesn't really increase until you hit the 3-D levels, which are nearly at the end. However, Flip Out is a lot of fun and a good afternoon's play. Graphics are crisp, control is smooth, and the sound is not bad either. If you like puzzles, and are looking for something unique, this one is worth sampling.
FlipOut! ultimately is a puzzle game that takes a little time to grow on you (just like the fungus known as cheese).

The graphics are blurry and not very clear, except for the actual tiles. The concept of flipping tiles is okay, but to have all these tiles in the air and then juggle them to the correct spots bored me after a while. Admittedly, it takes a while to get used to, but it still let me frustrated with not enough incentive to push on. A decent concept, but not enough to keep my attention.

Wasting a graphics powerhouse like the Jaguar on a silly game is like using a power drill to scratch your back. This is definitely a puzzler's game, but it's not as addictive as Tetris. If you loved Klax, you'll love FlipOut! Remember, love is never having to say "Atari".
The Video Game Critic (Nov 01, 2006)
By incorporating a whimsical soundtrack, goofy aliens, and the occasional fart sound effect, Atari hoped you might not notice how much fun you weren't having! Unlike similar puzzle titles, there's never any pay-off in the form of explosions or chain reactions. I can't recall the last time I've been more disinterested in a video game.
