James Cameron's Avatar is a game based on the science fiction film with the same name. It's one of two Avatar mobile games and is targeted towards feature phones while the other is a 3D game for smartphones. Unlike the smartphone game this game takes place within the timeframe of the film and features many of its characters. The player is in control of Jake Sully, the protagonist of the film.
The game is a sidescrolling 2D platform game where the player has to make his way through a number of levels by running and jumping, climbing vines and using a grappling hook to swing between platforms. The player will come across a number of enemies, including creatures of the Pandora wildlife as well as human soldiers, which can be fought with staff or bow. Throughout the levels wisps can be collected and be used between levels to increase the avatar's abilities by spending them on six different skills. In addition to the regular weapons, the player also has access to a special skill called the Spirit of Eywa. When used it kills all enemies but at the cost of one of six health points.
A few levels into the game the player gets access to a banshee. The banshee levels are completely different from the rest of the game and plays like a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up where the player has to shoot down enemy drones without getting hit.
