Yui Hirasawa, Mio Akiyama, Tsumugi Kotobuki, and Ritsu Tainaka were just four high school girls who had to save their school's light music club from disbandment - by joining it. Then they formed a band and started to practice hard. Things were going well for the girls, but they needed one more important factor. They got it when another girl named Azusa Nakano joined the club and started practicing with the others. Now, as Ho-kago Tea Time, the girls are well-oiled and ready to rock - and you're at the controls!

Based on the Japanese manga and anime, K-ON! Houkago Live!! puts the player in control of the hard-rocking all-girl band Ho-kago Tea Time as they jam to some of their greatest hits. During play, the player pushes the appropriate buttons when a musical staff goes over it. As more and more notes are played, the player can form combos and improve their score. But be careful - the girls can only miss so many notes! Too many misses will result in failure, and Ho-kago Tea Time cannot fulfill their dream of playing in the Budokan if they can't get it together!

As the game progresses, the player can unlock various items that can help the girls when they're in trouble, as well as various items to decorate the club room and alternate costumes. He/she can also unlock various events, as well as new sounds and voices.

Up to five players can rock out with Ho-kago Tea Time, using Ad Hoc networking.
