A superb, artistic remake of a historical title

The Good
There are many fan projects out there, attempting to revive the old adventure and RPG classics, but most are either half-hearted efforts or remain forever "under development". Not so with this one. This remake is a truly professional effort, the graphics on par with Sierra's own Quest for Glory I remake, and the original game has been transferred with minimal changes, apart from eschewing the text parser in favour of a purely point & click interface. It supports many languages (including Latin), and optional speech and music packs.

The Bad
The only thing that might possibly be considered a drawback is the aforementioned lack of the text parser. I might have preferred a mixed interface, like the one used in the original Quest for Glory. The game still plays out fine, though.

The Bottom Line
This remake has been made by people who not only love and respect the original, but who are also dedicated enough to see their project through and actually improve on it (the game is now at version 3.0). If you love Sierra's classic adventure games or you want to experience them and just can't stomach CGA graphics, then you should give this game a chance. And it is actually freeware!

King's Quest I revisited, a worthy re-make!

The Good
The old King's Quest I has been faithfully remaked with new and better music, voice-acting, early 90's VGA-graphics, and just invokes a certain degree of nostalgia. This is indeed a worthy re-make of this old classic!

The Bad
Some may complain about it not being quite long, but it's just as long as the original King's Quest; i.e: an experienced adventure gamer should be able to complete it without any aid in less then 4 hours - but that is not this re-makes fault, but the original King's Quest.

The Bottom Line
Tierra has re-created the classic King's Quest in a way which not only relives the original KQ atmosphere - it also enhances it in a way which will not only invoke nostalgia, but also a lot of fun.

Tierra has made a wonderful and commendable remake of this old classic, which, although short, will hopefully relive the interest in yesterday's adventure games in the interest of today's and the next generation gamers.
