Even if I watched the development of Oil Rush for almost a year, I didn't see it coming. It's a beautiful game, with a core mechanic that will probably start its own genre. It may have some faults, but none of them is too great to prevent anyone from playing or enjoying it. It's viewed mostly like an extravagant indie game, but if this is not A+ quality, then I don't know what it is. Every Linux fan out there has to realize that the days when games were for "other platforms" have come to an end, and the harbinger of the new gaming era on Linux is Oil Rush.
3D Juegos (Jan 30, 2012)

Hooked Gamers (Feb 27, 2012)
The occasional reset of the graphics settings and empty multiplayer server lists may deter some potential buyers, but all in all this game is a healthy mix of the two genres and plays surprisingly well as such. Despite my many grievances, I found myself thoroughly enjoying it. The annoying voices faded into the background as I struggled to pump forces into a platform being over-run, and the duplicity of fighting in the frozen north while the polar caps are supposedly melted was forgotten in the sheer beauty of the landscape. This game is a sum of its parts, not its flaws, and deserves to be played. If you have 20$ to spare, get Oil Rush. You may not find anyone to play online with, but it is sure to challenge your tactical wits.

Enjoyable, pleasant to look at, but possibly in need of tuning to a target audience. Oil Rush is well worth a look if you're into strategy gaming.

Should you Play Oil Rush? The short answer: Yes, especially if you are a Linux user. While Oil Rush has copious amounts of infuriating escort missions and empty online lobbies for multiplayer, the core of the game is still solid. Getting into skirmish mode against the computer or finding an opponent in multiplayer allows you to see more of what the game has to offer. While not being as snappy and refreshing as many of the free Tower Defense games online, Oil Rush still adds a fine layer graphical improvement and a neat wub-wub soundtrack to keep things going at a steady pace.
