A small treasure-hunt (of just four items) designed for play by small children, this streamlined point-and-click graphical adventure game adaptation of the venerable text adventure Nellan is Thirsty sees the protagonist (in this adaptation, Tux the Linux penguin) padding around a small complex of linked chambers seeking to retrieve objects the Banker, Mr. Klinkoyn, has misplaced. A secondary puzzle is alluded to in the title -- fetching Nellan, an enormous housecat, a bowl of cool milk... a trickier task than the fetch it may initially seem, given that a hot room lies between the milk source and the cat. A friendly rabbit, Chula, also logs an appearance and helps the player out.

An adaptation of Nellan is Thirsty, a program predating it by nearly a quarter of a century, this game not only makes the claim that its predecessor was the first (1980) text adventure game designed specifically to be played by small children, but that it is now "the first text adventure game ever to be completely rewritten with a modern graphical user interface." (I think he overlooks the PSX and Saturn adaptations of Zork 8) The basic premise of the adaptation is that it's a pity today's children would never otherwise be exposed to Nellan is Thirsty not only due to the extinction of the TRS-80 and C64 platforms but due to an incompatibility of the text parser to small children in today's intuitive no-typing-needed era of GUI computing environments.
