Defunct Games (Jan 15, 2006)
The extreme strategy involved in this game along with the time travel makes this one of the better games I have played in a long time. You should totally pick this game up and party on, dudes!
IGN (Jul 06, 1999)
How you feel about the Bill and Ted movies should not be a factor, as this game is an enjoyable package. It has a fair amount of action with lots of rock-solid puzzle solving, and the addition of time travel offers even more gaming potential. Though the sound and graphics are not extraordinary, in the end Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure earns its name.

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure is a superior to most movie-based games. I'm not a huge fan of quest-style games, but I don't want to be unfair to the game simply because it's not a style I enjoy. I say this because it's a good game with interesting play, awesome time traveling, and cool music to compliment your quest.

The Video Game Critic (Jun 11, 2008)
At its worst, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure doesn't make much sense. You have an inventory of items, but it's hard to tell what they do, and there's often no indication if an item is having any effect at all. It doesn't help that the manual (which folds out in the most annoying manner) reads more like a comic than instructions. A jaunty tune plays during the action, and a password feature lets you save your progress at any time. The password is critical because this game requires a few hours to complete. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure may not be excellent, but it isn't totally bogus either.
Games-X (Oct 24, 1991)
I wasn't at all impressed with the Lynx version of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. The game is based loosely around the film, but the original humour that featured in the movie has been lost. Visually the cartridge is very basic although it's quite colourful and the intro sequence is good. There is nothing awe-inspiring in the sound department and I found it rather monotonous. Maybe it should be called Bill & Ted's Tedious Adventure?
Video Games (Dec, 1991)
ST Format (Dec, 1992)
If you only destroy one game in your life by stabbing it repeatedly with the serious end of a sharp cutlass, make it this one. 'Nuff said?
