8th Wonder of the World is a real-time strategy game with RPG elements. Its most recent predecessor, reviewed by IMG last year, is Northland, and 8th Wonder is set a few years after that game. It's very much in the same mold, and if you were a fan of Northland, 8th Wonder will give you more of the same in every department, from graphics to basic gameplay style. If you weren't a fan of Northland, though, 8th Wonder offers nothing to win you over.
8th Wonder of the World is unique in that it focuses on the Vikings and how they work together to form a thriving community, as opposed to other strategy games which emphasize combat. What this means is you have to keep track of your populace and ensure they have enough materials to do their job, food to eat, wives to keep them company, children so you have enough workers or women, shoes to wear and tools to work with more productively, leading to soldiers so you are able to defend yourself against attackers. There is an incredible amount of management you have to handle because you have to give your Vikings very clear directions. While some people will enjoy this amount of control, I found it stressful, and the interface didn't make the overwhelming job any easier.
