Armikrog is a point-and-click adventure game, using a claymation visual style similar to The Neverhood. The player controls Tommynaut, a space explorer, and his alien dog named Beak-Beak, who have crash-landed on a mysterious planet. They are soon captured and taken to the fortress of Armikrog, and it's up to them to solve the mysteries of this place.

The game uses a minimal interface; the player can interact with items simply by clicking. Problems to solve include logic conundrums - such as sliding block puzzles or sequences where the player must arrange elements in the correct order - and inventory puzzles which require the player to find the right item. There is no inventory screen, and the protagonist will automatically use the relevant item for a puzzle, if he has it with him.

Douglas TenNapel on Armikrog., in a 2017 interview with The Gaming Ground:
Armikrog was a great opportunity that got about 90% there. Sadly enough though, we ran out of resources to put the polish on it. So those final 10% is a lot of where the smoothness and stability of a game comes from, and the bottom line is we were stretched too far with too little resources. Every dime and then some went into that game. It’s difficult when it doesn’t work out as well as we wanted. I’ve played it with my kids and there is a lot of fun to it.
