Duke Nukem 3D is by far the most fun (and funniest) and multiplayer game I've ever played. It's a 2 1/2 dimensional game, where the walls are 3D, but the objects and monsters are 2D sprites, so they have that strange way of always staring at you like a billboard for Marlboro Country.

Duke Nukem's highly interactive environment is one of the best features a game could have. The staff at Lion Entertainment have done a great job, as usual, porting Duke to the Mac, and I consider this game a leader in its class. Although Duke Nukem is fun, full of action, and sometimes amusing, parents should be aware of its contents and decide whether or not to utilize the parental controls in Duke Nukem. Some of the animations at the end of certain episodes are very controversial to some, but overall, Duke Nukem for Mac is currently the brightest of lights in the dark world of Mac gaming.

If you haven't bought your copy of Duke Nukem 3D yet, you're missing out on quite a gamer's treat. While long time Marathon fans may be disappointed by the lack of a progressive story line, Duke's witty humor and all-around better game play will more than make up for that. While Quake will be more graphically impressive than Duke, it is more of a display of the capabilities of the 3D graphics engine than a game.

Macworld (Sep, 1997)
As an action game, Duke Nukem is pure rock and roll, but its extreme violence and degrading content make it hard to recommend wholeheartedly. I had fun playing Duke--I just wanted to take a shower when I was done.
