Madden NFL 08 for the Macintosh may be daunting at first, but it becomes more fun the more you play, and it looks and performs great on the Intel Macs it requires. If you've got a console, the Mac version probably isn't enough to dissuade you from sticking with that. To everyone else, suit up. You've been activated for today's game.

Madden has all the action you want from a football video game and more. Other than slightly disappointing graphics, this game includes everything short of the tailgate party.
MacNN (Mar 17, 2008)
Overall, Madden is a great game port. There are a few graphics issues, but they don’t interrupt the game play. Excellent sound and fun music add to the play. The announcers add witty and helpful banter to the game. Madden NFL 08 is entertaining, and has long term appeal, plus the custom aspects of the game should keep even the most jaded NFL fan enthralled.

Madden NFL 08 isn’t for someone with only a passing interest in gridiron football, or someone who doesn’t know or care about the game. Football is a technically intricate game with sometimes bizarre and confounding rules, and Madden NFL 08 doesn’t really do anything to mitigate that; this is a sports game for fans of the game. It’s also a sports game that presumes people who are playing it today are familiar with the franchise, which may not be the case if you’ve limited your experience specifically to Mac gaming. But in the end, I’m just happy to have Madden back on the Mac.

Madden 08 is a fun game. Even for a non-football fan such as myself, it's a fun game. The presentation is outstanding. It looks great. The performance is well-tuned to run even on lesser machines without sacrificing too much quality. The player animations are some of the best I've ever seen in any sort of game. The commentary is nothing short of amazing. The fan creation mode is in and of itself hours of stupid fun. It has enough variety and play to likely keep harcore football folks busy until next year's version comes out.
