The perspective is from a standard 3D top-down angle and different areas have varied looks and terrain. The voice acting, while a bit over-the-top, is still good and the music won't drive you crazy either when you've been playing for 72-hours straight. Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim is a huge game with seemingly endless gameplay -- MacPlay has really outdone itself here. If you're a fan of RPGs and city building simulations, you need this one!
Is that enough to justify a purchase, though? There are still quite a few features missing that the original had, like a sandbox mode, the ability to continue playing after completing a mission, and the fairgrounds for hero tournaments. If Majesty 2 was Majesty and vice versa, yes. With the fact that this is a sequel though, probably not. The slowdown caused by 3D art, broken boss monsters, and inability to play non-campaign freestyle have reduced Majesty 2 to a state that only fans of hands-off strategy games will enjoy. Should these issues be addressed in a patch or expansion, however, there's no doubt you'll enjoy it.
Majesty 2 might not be for everyone; as a battle simulator, it’s quite lackluster. Still, if you’re looking for a purely strategic role, Majesty definitely delivers.
