DescriptionIn the near future, the Neurostalgia Institute provides cutting-edge treatment to patients suffering from psychological trauma. Special doctors called Neuromancers can venture inside the minds of their patients and treat them by getting directly to the root of the trauma. In Nevermind, the player controls a Neuromancer as they treat several patients. Gameplay consists of traveling through a surreal version of the patients' memories surrounding traumatic incidents, searching for clues about what happened to each one, and solving puzzles to piece together the true sequence of events that caused the trauma.
Due to the nature of the Neuromancer's work, it is possible that they may come across anxiety-inducing stimuli while inside the patient's memories. It is necessary to keep calm when this happens, or else the Neuromancer may become overwhelmed by what they are experiencing. Nevermind supports several different biofeedback devices, which can monitor the player's heart rate and other responses that can indicate increased stress and anxiety. If the player uses any of these devices while playing, puzzles and other gameplay elements may become easier or harder depending on how well they are able to manage their fear in the face of the game's horror-based scenarios.
