It's wonderful to get games of this caliber ported to the Mac. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 is fun, fast, and in my opinion, worth the price. The marketing copy says it's "The ultimate extreme sport experience." If that's not the truth, it's pretty darn close. Hey, it's endorsed by the Man Himself, Tony Hawk. What more do you need?
Overall I love this game. The pros definitely outweigh the few cons there are. It has a great replay value. An added bonus is that it is another sports game added to the collection of so few on the Mac. There are always one or two multiplayer games open for others to join on Gameranger. There's also the added incentive to replay the game for bonuses and cheats for beating everything, including: Hidden characters, movies, tricks, and all the cheats you could want. But in order to cheat, you have to win without cheats first. This game can keep you glued to your computer and game pad for days straight, trying to finish the game with all the characters. Have fun, and happy skating!
It's rare enough that a sports game comes to the Mac, but what makes Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 unique is that it's not your average sports game--it's an extreme-sports game. It's a challenging one at that, with immeasurable replay value thanks to its multiplayer gaming, customizable skaters, and skate-park editor.
When the game arrived with an actual manual, I was all set to learn some tricks and start having some real fun. Of course, it's not that easy. Despite a brief explanation on basic and trick controls, there's still a lot of playing to be done before you're ready to appear on ESPN2.
