DescriptionStar Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back is a DLC pinball table for Zen Pinball (HD) (mobile) and Zen Pinball 2 (Mac). It is based on the 1980 movie of the same name. The game's five scenes (missions) reference the events from the movie. Luke is trapped in Wampa's cave, Han Solo needs to finds Luke, an Imperial probe droid needs to be destroyed before it can pass on the location of the Rebel Echo Base hideout, etc. Many of these also have 3D animated characters, such as a Stormtrooper that needs to be hit during an attack on Echo Base, Imperial walkers that need to be taken down with harpoons and tow cables, escaping a TIE fighter with the Millennium Falcon, Luke training with Yoda, and meeting Darth Vader himself. Scenes are often split up in multiple parts and many missions have checkpoints to resume when they are accessed a second time. There is also a mini-game with a lightsaber duel in first-person mode between Luke and Vader, and a first-person lightsaber Jedi training mini-game.
The table has two regular flippers at the bottom with a triple outlane on the left and a double one on the right. A lightsaber acts as a plunger and there is another one in the top left corner to beam down balls in the outlanes. A second set of flippers is higher up, used to target the middle part that activates most missions and some additional ramps. A fifth flipper is on the right, mainly to hit buttons on the opposite side of the table at the same level. Next to different ramps and lanes left and right, there are four spinners. The table has a backdrop that changes according to the current mission.
For both Android and iOS this table is also the main content for Star Wars Pinball, a standalone application based on Zen Pinball (HD) that acts as a hub for ZEN's Star Wars themed tables. The default purchase comes with the table Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back. The other ones need to be purchased separately as an in-app purchase. Purchases cannot be transferred between the two applications. With each new update of tables, the number in the game's title was increased (Star Wars Pinball, Star Wars Pinball 2, Star Wars Pinball 3).
