The gameplay isn't fast as Tomcat Alley's. It stalls with the cut-and-paste video sequencing of attacks and the repetitive dialogue between team members quickly gets old. Unless you really loved Tomcat Alley, you may only want to go for a test run.

Tomcat Alley fans are gonna love this movie - I mean game, but unless you'd rather watch instead of playing games, I wouldn't raid any stores for a copy.

Later in the game you actually land and have to infiltrate a factory armed with a gun. These sequences play pretty much like the rest of the game, but at least it's a nice change of scenery. Midnight Raiders is okay, but after playing through it once, I didn't have much desire to play it again.

Retro Game Reviews (Mar 06, 2016)
Midnight Raiders is a weak attempt at the FMV genre due to its limited action, technical issues and poor controls. At the end of the day, there's not enough gameplay here and it's yet another case of the developers putting more effort into creating a movie-like atmosphere rather than an engaging user experience.

What this all boils down to is that Midnight Raiders is just like watching a badly acted movie with poor sound. I hope that game designers wake up and realize that gamers don't want to play junk like this. I'll take Atari 2600 graphics over FMV any day if it has a higher level of interaction.

Midnight Raiders wants to be like a Hollwood blockbuster so bad it could piss its pants. It wants to be up there with Top Gun, hell it would even settle for Flight of the Intruder. The designers want you to sit back with your fingers eagerly tapping the keyboard thinking "Holy shitballs, it's like I'm in a movie!" The jaded gamer will recognize right away this this plan is destined for failure, and once again, cynisism wins over dumbassed marketing ideas.

Laughter or tears... It depends on your personal taste, but Midnight Raiders should draw one of these from you. I’m kinda like Jesus in that I have suffered so that you might not have to. I’m here to warn all of the innocent people of the world that you’ve got to have one helluva penchant for campy video and hall-of-fame-worthy crap games to get anything out of this. If you don’t have that masochistic quality that compels one to compulsively collect films like “Troll 2”, just stay away from it.
