Description

Ouendan returns with nineteen more J-Pop/Rock songs, along with nineteen more situations where only a cheer squad can save the day. The original Ouendan and joined by a new team, the Morning City Ouendan, who wear blue in contrast to the black of the Evening City Ouendan.

Gameplay is largely identical to the original, tapping, sliding and spinning to match the beat of the song playing, in order to progress through different stages of a song. The closer the player gets to matching the song, the more points will be earned and the better the rank achieved. The whole game is played using the stylus.

Improvements made in 2006's Elite Beat Agents (the non Japanese "remake" of Ouendan) have been carried over, such as the ability to completely skip introductions and unlockable songs. One replay can be saved on each song, improving the system from Elite Beat Agents.

The Good
If you want a review about what's this game about, you should read the reviews for the previous one because this is exactly the same game with different songs. You don't have any new feature, absolutely nothing new, and that's why this review is so short.

Ouendan 2 is an example about not modifying what's well done. Ouendan was one of the best rhythm games ever made, maybe better than the guitar hero series. Elite Beat Agents wasn't a good game, and it's a fact that the oriental essence is necessary to make a good game like this one, Ouendan 2 is more of the same, just new songs with the same spirit and nothing more. It's more like a expansion pack than a real new game.

There are just a few new things about gameplay. Now you can skip the intro for the songs, which is a really new good thing. Now you don't have to wait to start playing (remember the last song for Ouendan? You had to wait a lot to start playing it!).

The Bad
I don't know why, but the previous one is better than this one. The game is exactly the same, so, it's something subjective, you'll prefer Ouendan 2 if you like the songs for this game more. In my opinion, the songs for Ouendan were much more different. Ouendan 2 has many songs that sounds similar, and you'll need to play many times to perceive them different.

The only bad thing in this game is that there are no new features. It's still a great game, but without nothing new. It doesn't have the originality of the first one because it's something that we've known before.

The Bottom Line
The same game, nothing new. Anyway, it's still a great game with nice songs. If you liked the first one you have to play this one too, a nice sequel that needs some new features but it is still as funny as always. Much better than Elite Beat Agents, but without the originality of the first one.
