Para quem gosta de jogar xadrez — ou quer aprender — Battle Chess é uma divertida opção.
Battle Chess is an interesting title. It's approach to killer, chess action definitely falls short, but at the same time if you're looking for a decent chess title, this one will deliver the basics and then some. It just doesn't play out well and in the end you're probably better off focusing on something like The Chessmaster, which is a much better, higher quality game that knows its roots and where its focus should be. Battle Chess was a cool idea, but it wasn't taken to the level it could have been.
What you cannot speed up, however, is the protracted time it takes for the CPU to choose a move, even when playing at a lower level. It’s amusing, but if you’re looking for even a semi-deep chess experience, this isn’t the game.

Basically this is chess slowed down 5 times. Now I'm a chess player so I don't mind the slow pace of regular chess, but this game is grueling. Another terrible feature is the fact that during the battle scenes, it cuts to another screen. This is bad because you don't get to really concentrate on the board, which is a major part of chess!

Overall, this 8-bit port of Battle Chess is horrible. It's the slowest video game of all time -- probably even slower than a real professional chess game. Try to avoid it, especially if you have fond memories of the original on DOS or Amiga.

Battle Chess is about as slow as any game I’ve ever played, and only the most patient and tolerant of chess players would want to work with it.
