Defunct Games (Aug 08, 2010)
The game rewards players for sticking with the learning curve and mastering the aim. Cobra Triangle offers a substantial amount of quality content, all done in fresh and inventive ways. This is easily one of the greatest 8-bit games ever made. It's a shame that neither Rare nor Nintendo updated this classic action game. It's not too late, perhaps 2011 could be the year of the Cobra!
Gamestyle (Jul 24, 2008)
Each level really feels like something fresh - meaning you never get bored of just doing the same thing over and over again, furthermore you look forward to seeing what the next level will bring making the game highly addictive even now. Overall Cobra Triangle is a stunning game.
Gamezone (Germany) (Jul 18, 2006)
The Games Machine (UK) (May, 1990)
You can tell that Cobra Triangle comes from the people that brought you RC Pro-Am because the same graphical style is in evidence. There are only eight levels to play, but every one is tougher than the last. Perhaps the most frustrating is the jump-the-waterfall section, but patience reaps rewards (as always).
Retrogaming History (Apr 07, 2008)
Guidare un motoscafo e fargli saltare cascate, schivare "mulinelli", superare nemici, distruggere torrette armate, mettere in slavo persone, spostare mine, evitare sassi e molto altro risulta divertente.
Retrogaming.it (Apr 07, 2008)
The Video Game Critic (Nov 17, 2004)
The graphics are bright and attractive, with smooth animation and minimal flicker. After completing a stage, a tiny propeller sprouts from your boat and flies you to the next stage. Compared to its graphics, Cobra Triangle's music is pretty mediocre. You get three continues, but using a continue does not reset your score, and that's just wrong. Still, Cobra Triangle is a quality title that's unlike anything else out there.
Classic-games.net (Jun 18, 2018)
Cobra Triangle is like many of Rare’s NES efforts; a nice concept brought down by its execution. I really like it but at the same time have a hard time recommending it. This is still a pretty unique game but the insane difficulty will turn away many unfortunately.
Wizard Dojo (Aug 13, 2017)
Cobra Triangle remains a fun game to play today, which is quite impressive for something that, on the surface, may just appear to be an NES boat racing game. The rescue missions may break the pacing of the game a bit with their considerably difficulty spike, and the perspectives can be a little misleading at times. But there’s no denying the fun, variety and ambition that Cobra Triangle brought to the NES.
Retro Game Reviews (Dec 31, 2015)
Cobra Triangle is a brave attempt at combining the racing and combat genres and in many respects it was way ahead of its time. Unfortunately, the events are hit and miss and there's simply not enough of them to hold your attention for too long.
The game isn’t great in execution and it’s just not as fun as it sounds, despite having loads of creativity in its favor. A little more polish and balance certainly would have helped in all areas, especially the long and frustrating boss battles.
Questicle.net (Jul, 2011)
Cobra Triangle is the epitome of mediocrity, and for that, it should be cast into the fires of cartridge hell.
Random Access (Aug 16, 2013)
Unfortunately, nice graphics and sound do not necessarily develop into a great game experience. In fact, I think Cobra Triangle is pretty awful. The first few levels may lure you into a false sense of security where you truly believe that this game shall shower you with figurative liquid jubilance, but once you get deeper into the game, you'll learn the ugly truth: like the sea serpent on the cover, Cobra Triangle will chew you up like bacon croquettes at a dinner party. Rare has made some great games in the past, but this wasn't among them.
