I think itâs safe to say that I really enjoy Kid Icarus. I understand the complaints my younger self had with the game, but if I would have just given it the time and patience it deserved, I know I would have enjoyed it. Iâm thankful that now, in my mid-twenties, I can appreciate the depths Nintendo tried to inject into the action platformer. Even during the initial success of Super Mario Bros., Nintendo wasnât content to rest on their laurels and churn out wave after wave of side-scrolling Mario games. Kid Icarus took risks. God bless it for that.

All said, Kid Icarus is a satisfying game that, once you get into it, youâll play until the end. The only disappointment here is that it ends; a sign of quality code. This is a definite must-have for the gamer that demands a little meat to his adventure.

Overall this game is quite fun, but at the same time a worthy challenge. Moments that are forever stuck inside my head like that atrocious noise Pit makes when he gets hit. That insane sound that Reapettes make at Pit make me feel as if they are laughing at me on a personal level. Matter of fact most of the sounds and noises each character makes are quite ear painful, but fun. The music in the game is simply fantastic and gives a sense of victory. The title theme is one of the best around, unique, and will stay in your head forever. "I'm Finished!"

The game has a rather steep learning curve, but the rich and
interesting world will likely be enough to keep players returning to
Angel Land.

SwankWorld (2004)
Overall, even after all of these years, this game is still enjoyable to play. The graphics for its time were about as good as they get. The sound throughout the game is a little repetitive, but catchy and it does change up at least every level. What makes this game one of the best is its lasting power, even after beating the game, itâs fun to keep replaying the game to see how much better you can do.

Kid Icarus was, as I mentioned earlier, overshadowed by more prominent NES releases at the time. However, it shouldn't have been as overlooked as it was, for the game is actually rich in gameplay and spirit. Though not the prettiest game to date, or filled with the most depth, there is enough to enjoy about Kid Icarus that most classic gaming fans would be privileged to play it. Granted, it has its faults, but that's typical of most games. Thankfully, Nintendo saw the light a while back and released the game on its Virtual Console for the Wii so that gamers in the new digital age can get a glimpse of fun gaming from the past. Kid Icarus is a solid platformer/shooter released during the first generation of NES releases, but it has aged well enough over time to become an NES classic that need not be ignored.

The game had many new concepts to a game from that time, it was very difficult, but if I had played it correctly then the game would have been a little bit easier. The story was cool, although obviously, there isnât a whole lot presented in the actual game. If you like platform, side-scrollers with mazes and a challenge I recommend it, if not. Move along.

Kid Icarus is a good game bordering on great. It may have its flaws but is still quite good considering all it attempts. It sucks that it took so long for it to finally receive a sequel but now is a perfect time to relive the original.

In the end these problems do drag Kid Icarus down a notch. I guess you can say that is the main reason it isnât held in high esteem. And you know, his appearance in Captain N probably didnât help either. But they donât diminish the experience as a whole once you stick with it. Now is the perfect time to experience Pitâs first adventure in preparation for his upcoming 3DS outing.

Selten habe ich ein derart
komplexes Videospiel gesehen.

Some would argue that the incredible difficulty is what makes this game great, but Kid Icarus crosses the line into pull-your-hair-out territory.

Thatâs where my patience with Kid Icarus ended. Iâve completed the game in the past, but that was back in a time when I didnât realize that some games arenât as good as others. Like so many kids of the early â80s, I placed Kid Icarus on the same pedestal as Metroid, Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda. I was even one of those guys who pined for a modern day sequel. Once I took off my rose-colored glasses, I realized that time has not been kind to this one.

Overall, I was disappointed with Kid Icarus. I really wanted to like it and gave it multiple chances; however, the game is just far too brutal and would have benefited from different skill settings (like Mega Man 2) to make it more friendly to newcomers and hardcore gamers alike.
