Power Blade 2 is a good game but still disappointing. What few unique features the series had are gone, leaving behind a decent if generic action game. It is still enjoyable but not as good as the titles it now resembles.
Visually, the game looks nice. However, most parts of the stages look too similar to one another, and the enemies aren’t really unique to each area. While still a fun game, the change in gameplay and level design is a stark drop off from the first, with the power suits being both a blessing and a curse for the overall experience.
Hardcore Gaming 101 (2008)
Overall, Power Blade 2 is a cool game and is definitely worth a play. It has nice graphics, music, control, and some radical suits to use. It's also rather challenging towards the end. The storyline is cool and the gameplay is great. The main character could have been given a few different weapons, but I suppose that's what the suits are meant for. This is basically one of those "memorize the patterns and you'll do okay" type of games. There are even a couple areas where you have to ride moving platforms like the parts in Battletoads where you had to ride the snakes...I thought that was kinda cool. To summarize, Power Blade 2 is a decent game.
Retro Game Age (Jan 09, 2012)
It’s still a fun game but is a noticeable downgrade from the first one. Seeing as how it was one of the last releases in the US it can be hard to track down and you might want to ask yourself whether its worth going to the trouble.

The original Power Blade may have been inspired by Contra and other similarly-styled action games, but it remained a unique entity. Unfortunately, Power Blade 2 weaves these Mega Man elements so deeply into the gameplay that they’re hard to overlook, at least for me; less homage, more complete rip-off. To frustrate further, PB 2 is almost unbearably difficult at times. Enemies are relentless and later stage design doesn’t work (Hello water stage!) if you don’t have all of the suits. Power Blade 2 works occasionally, but it doesn’t thrill like the first entry.
Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) (Oct, 1992)
Power Blade 2 is a step up from the original, but that's not saying too much.
