While this game has a few interesting perks, the game just fails to be good where it counts. The sloppy outfield and base controls really puts a damper on the entire game. If you are a die-hard baseball fan, pick this game up, otherwise rent this game to get your sports fix.
Gaming Age (Jan 21, 2004)
MLB Slam! is a hit and miss effort on N-Gage. There are plenty of modes to choose from and the fielding works, but the batting game suffers from inconsistent hits and undeterminable range.
IGN (Dec 10, 2003)
The first baseball title on the N-Gage fails to take advantage of the system's capabilities and falls behind similar Game Boy Advance titles in almost every aspect. The expansive season mode, Dream Team option and full players stats are nice additions but they cannot make up for the tedious gameplay.
GameSpy (Oct 16, 2003)
Besides statistical accuracy, there's little new or inherently well-produced about MLB Slam! Without much control in the outfield or on the bases, the gameplay is reduced to pitching and batting, which is also a pretty weak element. While there are plenty of modes and multiplayer, they feel a bit hollow when you actually play MLB Slam! There is no downloadable content or extra features that outplay a good game.
GameSpot (Jan 05, 2004)
In all, MLB Slam! is a game that is impossible to recommend to anyone. Its poorly designed gameplay and boring, bug-filled graphics would prevent even the most rabid baseball fan from enjoying what is presented.
