Ace Attorney is one of the best game franchises out there (handheld or otherwise), due mainly to each title in the series having extremely high entertainment value. Probably the best thing about the series is that it's unlikely to end soon, since its potential is virtually limitless. Not only has it established a winning cast of characters, and a formula for fun-packed gameplay, its latest title, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth shows that there are still lots of ways both cast and formula can be effectively improved and expanded upon. Hrm...it looks at this point that the only conceivable way the series could improve is if its games came out more often. A two year wait between releases is just, well...criminal.
RPGFan (Mar 02, 2010)
Long time fans will be pleased with this entry in the Ace Attorney series, and it's a quality game for newcomers as well, although it is not the best entry point for the series. It's definitely what I'd call fan service for those who have stuck by the series, and it's great that fan loyalty pays off for this game. Ace Attorney Investigations is a solid twenty hour romp that will leave you satisfied at the conclusion. If they decided to expand on this series, I'd be more than happy to hear it – it really is something special. The Ace Attorney series still stands as one of the best offerings on the Nintendo DS, so you really can't go wrong with any of the games. With old characters making their way back to you, and new characters just as intriguing, you really can't go wrong. No objections here!

For Ace Attorney fans, this game could very well be the best since the first game, as the cases are interesting, the additions to the mechanics are well-exectued, and the humor is as funny as ever. If you're not familiar with the other games, though, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is still a great crime drama game, with enough loops and twists to keep anyone interested for quite a while. For those of you who were waiting for this review, I suppose there's only one thing left to say... TAKE THAT!
NintendoWorldReport (Feb 16, 2010)
Ace Attorney Investigations is a fantastic game for fans of the series. It expands the mythos, features a novel take on familiar gameplay, and stars a fan-favorite character. If you're new to the series, you would be better off taking a peek at the WiiWare releases of the Phoenix Wright games, but Miles Edgeworth's debut adventure wouldn't be a terrible place to enter the series, as it is quite possibly the best entry.
GamersGlobal (Feb 23, 2010)
Official Nintendo Magazine (Feb 17, 2010)
If you're a fan of the Ace Attorney games you should find plenty to enjoy in Ace Attorney Investigations. You may initially be slightly disappointed at the lack of belly laughs, particularly in the first case where there are only a couple of chuckles to be had courtesy of Gumshoe, but things do get more amusing later on. More importantly though, the gameplay has been revamped, and while these changes are by and large evolutionary rather than revolutionary, for the first time in the series, instead of simply following your character's train of thought and filling in the blanks they ask you for, you feel properly in control.
GameTrailers (Mar 08, 2010)
Miles Edgeworth's take on the franchise doesn't pack on too many surprises, but is nonetheless faithful to the tenets that make Ace Attorney great. It isn't the next big evolution that the series was aiming for, but as simply the next game in an esteemed line of whimsical court sims, this portable prosecutor presents a case well worth investigating.
1UP (Feb 18, 2010)
If you've played (and enjoyed) the other Ace Attorney games, then you should be unabashedly enthusiastic about this latest entry in the series. And for me, it's my favorite since the first game. The mechanics may not seem as new, and you're always several steps ahead of the story, but the eccentric cast of characters in Ace Attorney is always fun to meet again.
3D Juegos (Feb 23, 2010)
Cheat Code Central (2010)
In many ways, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth feels more like a retro experience than a step forward for the franchise. It incorporates a few mechanics that, though new to the series, are classics of the adventure genre. Interestingly enough, it's just the shot in the arm Ace Attorney needs to make it feel fresh again. Players are given more to do, and an organized approach to story and gameplay mean you won't be left floundering around trying to figure out what to do next. The level of challenge is balanced, and though you'll have to suspend disbelief when it comes to the game's characters and situations, cases still rely almost completely on logic. Best of all, this is one meaty package that will give fans a good bang for their buck. If you're looking for a great "who done it" on the go, Capcom's got the latest, greatest thing for you right here.
Worth Playing (Feb 19, 2010)
Overall, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is a refreshing but subtle twist to the series. It showed up just in time, now that the adventure genre carries some serious competition. While it's hard to say if the prosecutor is superior to rivals such as a mighty pirate or an inventor and his dog, he still carries a legitimately proud and strong series onward. Although this fifth entry is not the series' strongest, it's a solid and worthy purchase for fans of the genre or casual gamers who are looking for an entertaining story.
Cubed3 (Apr 19, 2010)
With a different writer and a different experience aimed for, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is still brilliant, though it is slightly inferior to the rest of the series. While Ace Attorney fans will love it from the moment they put it in their DS, the pacing and plot isn't quite up to standard and players may be left wanting the true Ace Attorney 5 even more. Perhaps an Ace Attorney Investigations 2 could make better use of what the series, and its characters, has to offer…
Nintendo Life (Mar 10, 2010)
The Ace Attorney games are popular for a reason. With fantastic writing, clever jokes, and genuinely interesting stories, they're easily among the best adventure titles around. Although referred to by some as a spin-off, Miles Edgeworth still has practically the exact same gameplay as all previous games, just with added investigating. With five more intriguing cases of surprising length to solve, it's another welcome addition to the franchise. Now to wait for the next one!
Wired (Feb 16, 2010)
When everything comes together in the game’s final case, and Edgeworth finally gets an opportunity to argue a case in court, it becomes evident how meticulously planned, written and executed this game really is. Compared to most other games, the interactions here may seem minimal. But that doesn’t mean that Edgeworth and friends won’t manage to get their hooks into you.
Pocket Gamer UK (Feb 26, 2010)
Some people may have an objection to the change of focus and different lead character but, when all the evidence is presented, it's obvious that this is still the Ace Attorney that we know and love.
Thunderbolt Games (Feb 24, 2010)
That doesn’t make Ace Attorney Investigations a bad game, however. Nowhere near it. It has the clever writing and style that made the previous games so amazing. It allows you to see the series from a different perspective, offering new insight into a character that gamers only thought they knew. Fans will be treated to a slew of newcomers and cameos alike. Collecting evidence, making logical deductions, following leads, and debating offer a similar, but more analytical approach to the typical Ace Attorney gameplay. It’s just a shame that the assistant mechanics weren’t more fully utilized; the image-based investigation is a wonderful idea for those who get bogged down by the written details. Considering how lengthy and wordy some of the cases are, getting through everything is a slow process. It pays off, though; Phoenix Wright might be gone, but Miles Edgeworth more than makes up for it.
videogamer.com (Mar 03, 2010)
While it might not be for newcomers, Ace Attorney Investigations will leave fans of the series squealing with delight. The game is as witty, charming, and engaging as ever, with new features that fit perfectly in place with the new protagonist. The all important plot is as compelling as you’d expect, with larger than life characters jumping out of the screen thanks to some outstanding scriptwriting. Investigations is a wonderful addition to the series, and proves that the series still has much to offer despite concerns that it was becoming ever so slightly formulaic. Roll on Ace Attorney 5.
GameSpy (Feb 17, 2010)
It's a bit ironic, to me, that I'm now complaining about an Ace Attorney game being too easy, but hey -- given how arcane the adventure games of old often got, I'm glad this is the worst thing I can say about AAI: ME. If anything, Edgeworth's solo adventure is a good first step toward evolving Ace Attorney; if the developers can tweak the difficulty up a bit without making it seem too merciless (see the third game, Trials & Tribulations, for what I consider the sweet spot), the Investigations spinoff series might just overtake its parent in terms of both gameplay and narrative creativity. To this, I offer no objection (little lawyer humor for you there).
Eurogamer.net (UK) (Feb 15, 2010)
Things might be different as Edgeworth takes the helm, but this is unmistakably an Ace Attorney game. It bubbles with joy, a simmering pot of gleeful happiness. The ridiculous world of outlandish characters, crazed enthusiasm and peculiar passion continues, despite this latest game being even more heavily focused on the topic of murder.
GameSpot (Feb 16, 2010)
Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is a strong adventure game with an intricate storyline and a successful twist on the gameplay formula of its predecessors. Its text-based narrative is slow but solid, while new gameplay elements with the chance to explore the world outside the courtroom make for a lot of tight situations, charming locations, and madcap characters.
Vandal Online (Feb 22, 2010)
Gamer 2.0 (Mar 03, 2010)
Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is a game that anybody can enjoy if they had the time to play, but it is an experience best had by those who have gotten through all of Phoenix Wright’s chapters in the first three games in the series. Whether you’re an Ace Attorney fanatic or not, the game features hilarious and witty dialog and a colorful cast of characters that makes it easy to pick with an engaging story, but this game really could’ve been so much more.
HCL.hr Gaming Portal (Mar 01, 2010)
S druge strane, očekivao sam bar nekoliko noviteta i izazovnije zagonetke, a dobio reprizu nečega što sam igrao s gotovo nimalo izazova.
IGN (Feb 16, 2010)
At its best, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is engaging, even charming. There are moments when the logic really clicks and the evidence needed to contradict a statement is obvious. At its worst, Ace Attorney is a frustrating exercise in trial and error gameplay, where you have to keep tossing out evidence in the hopes you pick the right one that somehow makes sense amidst a half-cocked story.
SOS Gamers (May 25, 2010)
GameZone (Feb 17, 2010)
Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth gets props for changing up the setting and providing a new protagonist for the franchise. However, the gameplay is pretty standard for the Ace Attorney series, and brings with it the same flaws from other entries.
Game Shark (Mar 02, 2010)
As with all the four games before it, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth takes the usual adventure gaming tropes and surrounds them with delightfully complex cases and a healthy dollop of character whackines. Heck, if the game can take Miles Edgeworth, one of the least interesting characters in the game and make him a protagonist you enjoy spending time with, they have to be doing something right.
PAL Gaming Network (PALGN) (Feb 27, 2010)
Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is another good addition to the Ace Attorney franchise, but playing through as a prosecutor instead of a defence attorney doesn't make as much of a difference as you'd imagine. While the adventure game-style investigations are a welcome and refreshing inclusion, the rest of the game isn't quite as groundbreaking. In fact, we'd make our own argument that this game's arguments aren't quite as intense as the courtroom battles of the past, despite the fact they play almost exactly the same. Nevertheless, the story and characters of this game are ridiculous, hilarious and part of the reason why so many have fallen in love with this series. If you're a fan, it's definitely worth picking Miles Edgeworth up, and for others looking for a new twist on the adventure game genre, we'll let you put together your own deductions from this review in your logic menu.
Everyeye.it (Mar 01, 2010)
The A.V. Club (Feb 22, 2010)
While Ace Attorney Investigations has all its predecessors’ charm, taking the action out of the courtroom also makes the stakes seem lower. If Phoenix Wright fails to defend people properly, their lives are over. If Miles Edgeworth can’t solve a crime on the spot, at least he can recommend a great attorney.
Gamestyle (Mar 02, 2010)
We would not go so far as to say this series has ever been perfect; as we have pointed out, the often illogical means of progressing cases has been a consistent flaw which has dragged this series down, even if the gameplay is otherwise unbroken. This iteration is no different, but also like the other games is the fact that the script, characters and story once again make this a very endearing entry in the series, and another that is well worth checking out.
GamePro (US) (Feb 16, 2010)
Miles Edgeworth is worth picking up if you're an Ace Attorney fan, as the cameos are delightful -- keep your eyes peeled for Lotta Hart! -- and the cases are still interesting enough, even though they're far too easy and much too predictable. Newcomers to the series will have reasons to enjoy it as well, as it's a good showcase of the formula, but if you never bought into the courtroom hijinks, this is one you can safely ignore.
Gamer Limit (Mar 03, 2010)
Ace Attorney Investigations is a mystery novel with no suspense. It's indicative of an identity crisis, wherein the series started out as a murder mystery, but now caters to fans who had more fun with the inane drama. The creators of the Ace Attorney series need to sit down, figure out what they want out of the series, and do it.
Gaming since 198x (Apr 29, 2010)
Adventure Gamers (Mar 15, 2010)
The series’ real trump card has always been pitting vicious, comedic characters against you in a silly, puzzling game of logic and wits, and some of that clearly remains in Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth. Unfortunately, instead of focusing on unique, truly puzzling cases and bizarre scenarios, this game suffers from overly linear investigations, longwinded dialogue, and a lackluster storyline. The most devoted series fans will probably still love it, but newcomers should check out life as a defense attorney first. The rest of us are likely to find it entertaining enough at times, but a little too meandering, a little too mediocre to fully live up to the Ace Attorney legacy.
Level 7 (Apr 02, 2010)
