It's not as extravagant, thrilling, or exciting as the main series it's based on, however frame rate and control issues aside, this is a good option for those who want a similar experience on the go.
Game Chronicles (Nov 22, 2011)
I enjoyed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Defiance on the DS though there are a few things that bring it down. The graphics are still rough and they totally missed an opportunity to use the now affordable 3DS’s power. Defiance is definitely on of the best and solid FPS titles on the DS despite its gameplay controls still being a bit rough. The large campaign and plenty of multiplayer options does give the mobile gamer plenty of things to do when they are away from their homes and any Call of Duty fan should enjoy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Defiance.
NintendoWorldReport (Nov 21, 2011)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Defiance isn’t going to win any awards, but as a DS port of a popular franchise, it does a decent job making the experience portable. If you can ignore the game’s bland campaign and uncomfortable controls, Defiance is a decent multiplayer experience for system that isn’t known for its online.
Modojo (Nov 10, 2011)
That aside, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Defiance is a solid portable shooter crippled by rapidly aging hardware. It's tough going from even an iPad shooter like Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation to this. Of course, if all you own is a DS, it's one of the better first person titles for the system, but that's not saying much.
GameSpot (Jan 06, 2012)
Modern Warfare 3: Defiance is predictable and sedate yet solid in what it's trying to do. If you're after some FPS action on the go, with some solid if forgettable gunplay and an enjoyable multiplayer component, this game fits the bill. If you're skeptical about the concept of a handheld Call of Duty in the first place, though, then Defiance is unlikely to convince you otherwise.
