Clash of Heroes can be summed up very easily. This is one of the best games of 2009. Capybara Games needs to be commended for taking a franchise that nobody cares about any more and turning it into something that deserves undivided attention by using an innovation, beautiful art and smart game design to keep the gameplay addicting.
Gaming Nexus (Dec 30, 2009)
Might and Magic Clash of Heroes is one of the best DS games of 2009. Its intoxicating mixture of turn-based RPG strategy, puzzle elements and anime-styled fantasy will have you hooked for weeks as you battle through its epic, lengthy quest. This is a must-own DS title, especially for RPG fans.
Game Shark (Dec 18, 2009)
But if the wonderful combat isn't enough to draw you in, the charming visuals just might do the trick. Clash of Heroes looks like a long-lost SNES game, a spiritual sibling to the heyday of 16-bit RPGs. The pixelated art style is so nostalgic it almost hurts, though the wonderfully drawn character portraits help make it feel like a modern game on a modern handheld. Sadly, this is a game that's easy to overlook. Nearly everything about it screams generic, which is ironic considering how fresh and unique the core gameplay feels. For those who like a little strategy RPG with their puzzle games, there is no finer game than Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes.
Gamervision (Jan 05, 2010)
Despite this fault, Clash of Heroes manages to be one of the more entertaining games of 2009, with its biggest flaw being in marketing and a poor release date. It's not, in any way, for fans of Might & Magic, in the same way that Far Cry 2 barely kept anything from the original for the sequel. Playing as children, completing puzzles, the cute, anime-style; it's really all fitting, since it feels more like a child of the series than a sequel. Then again, that's not a bad thing, and hopefully the game will receive enough buzz so that a sequel might fix the few problems, and gain the attention it deserves. In the meantime, it's a great game, toppling Puzzle Quest and Gyromancer for king of the genre.

Although I wasn't able to give this game the recognition it deserved when last year's accolades were being handed out, I hope that this review (late as it is) makes up for that oversight in some small part. Skipping my usual witty remark or pun-laden ending line in closing, let me just say that Clash of Heroes is an absolute winner from start to finish. Any gamer worthy of the title needs to have a copy of this cart in their library. Buy it.

You may not care about Might and Magic, or you may love the series to death; it doesn't really matter. Clash of Heroes is an all-new experience built exclusively for the DS, and it's hands-down one of the deepest and most rewarding games on the system. It's a big year for DS, and there are plenty of games you could sink your cash and time into. Just make sure Clash of Heroes is one of them.

With that being said, this isn't necessarily a game for everyone. Clash of Heroes is inviting at first, but the challenge eventually ramps up to a seemingly brutal level of difficulty that will draw a line in the sand between casual players and diehard strategy fans. If you're of the latter group, then this latest entry into the Might and Magic lore is an absolute must-buy.

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes comes highly recommended, whether or not you've played any other games in the M&M franchise. This is not a bastardization of the series. If anything, Clash of Heroes may become the catalyst to resurrect a franchise that was once on its last legs.

Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes biedt een totaal nieuw concept voor de battles in turn-based RPG's.

Might and Magic : Clash of Heroes.
AusGamers (Jan 18, 2010)
This bold mash-up makes old ideas seem fresh, and makes Nintendo's handheld come alive as if it were new, and still rich with novelty and potential. Frankly, with games like Clash of Heroes still being launched, talk of a DS2 next year seems premature - the original DS has still got what it takes.
GamingExcellence (Jan 19, 2010)
Clash of Heroes, on the outside, looks like a crazy smorgasbord of genres and gameplay types. But what lies beneath this is an intricate game that is filled with strategy and involving puzzle gameplay. It’s a great title with some good sprite art to go with its battle system, and while it may not be perfect for everybody, likely anyone who enjoys a good battle, or puzzle, will get a kick out of how the genres come together.
GameSpot (Jan 08, 2010)
All things considered, Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes has a lot going for it, including intriguing hybrid mechanics, callbacks to a classic strategy series, enjoyable puzzle battles, and a well-written story that could have come out of a vintage 16-bit RPG. Since the puzzle gameplay is an integral part of the battle system, and since the role-playing elements are the star of the game's main attraction--Story mode--you'll need to be a fan of both puzzle games and RPGs to get the most out of Clash of Heroes. However, if you are a fan of both game genres, you'll find a very good puzzle game and a great console RPG experience here.

Gamereactor (Sweden) (Jan 25, 2010)
Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes is no role-playing epic, but it is certainly an entertaining and addictive game. The story is nothing compelling, the graphics and visuals aren’t really appealing and the anime style art is nothing to get excited about. However, what matters most is that the battle system is immensely enjoyable and diverse. Furthermore, the RPG elements have been nicely implemented and they really add a lot of substance to the game without it feeling artificial. From a single player stand point, there is enough content to keep you entertained for 50 hours, and the multiplayer options makes the package that much sweeter.

During the course of writing this, Eurogamer MMO editor Oli Welsh popped up on my MSN to ask me if I thought it was a puzzle, RPG or strategy game. It has enough elements of each that I honestly couldn't say. What I did do was recommend it to him wholeheartedly, because, whatever it is, Clash of Heroes is a very good game indeed.

Capybara Games has done a phenomenal job creating a very unique RPG/puzzle hybrid that will keep gamers happy. This is a fantastic game to play at home in bed for a few hours straight, or it can be played in bursts on a commute to work. Not only does the game feature a lengthy campaign, but it also offers a local multiplayer experience, along with a quick play feature that has a sliding difficultly. Those who seek something with a lot more depth than Puzzle Quest as well as a unique challenge will have no problem deriving enjoyment from Clash of Heroes. While Clash of Heroes may seem like the underdog for DS Game of the Year, those who have discounted this quirky title out may be missing out on a remarkably refreshing new experience.

GamersGlobal (Jan 11, 2010)
Clash of Heroes ist kein Heroes of Might & Magic – egal, was auf der Packung stehen mag.

Might & Magic Clash Of Heroes est une belle réussite.
