Elite Squadron isn't without its flaws but it's the best Star Wars game available on the DS.
IGN (Nov 09, 2009)
As a first step on the DS, Elite Squadron isn't a bad attempt for LucasArts. The single player story is pretty good, and the action is somewhat engaging, if a bit light on replayability. The multiplayer leaves a lot to be desired though, because it's way too easy and simplistic. However, if N-Space and LucasArts expands on the single player and drops a larger multiplayer mode in, this could be an awesome series for DS owners.
Game Informer Magazine (Nov 03, 2009)
Elite Squadron’s big problem is its controls. The game has a couple control schemes, but I couldn’t find one that didn’t feel both clunky and inaccurate. Moving your character through battle is as trouble-free as sending the Millennium Falcon into hyperspace. Even the Jedi hero characters – which should be awesome – are frustrating to play with because melee combat is as slow and choppy as Comcast’s cable signal. I know Star Wars fans usually eat these games up, but maybe it’s time to rebel against this Empire. We deserve better than this.
Vandal Online (Nov 12, 2009)

Gamervision (Dec 01, 2009)
Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron is certainly a victim of its platform’s shortcomings, but it’s also not a very good game to begin with. There’s a multiplayer aspect, allowing up to four players to battle head to head, but it’s so shallow and unenjoyable, it’s not worth bothering with, and barely worth mentioning. Without that, all we’re left with is a sub-par action game with land visuals and zero challenge. It does manage to tell a decent story, and the game is so easy, anyone who wants to see it unfold can do so with little to no difficulty, but for gamers looking for their Star Wars action fix, this isn't the game you're looking for.

Worth Playing (Apr 08, 2010)
Is Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron on the DS worth buying? Probably not, unless you're a ridiculously hardcore Star Wars fan. Aside from a quick rental, it's not worth it to pick up this title. Once you're done with the story, I can't imagine any reason to return to it, and although it's far more entertaining when played in short bursts, there's a legion of quality titles on the DS that are made exactly with that in mind. If you get a chance to play the game, you probably won't hate it, but it's not really up to snuff when compared to other games in the Battlefront series.

It's a shame a series that offers as much as Battlefront does has sullied its name with a subpar release like this on a system that can't handle what the Battlefront games are all about. It seems unnecessary to tack the Battlefront tag on when this could have been developed as its own stand alone game where the developers were free to build it without restrictions to make it a Battlefront doppelganger. As it is, Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron is a big disappointment that only the biggest of Star Wars fans should consider trying. While that's the normal caveat for a licensed title, it's a stretch here. In reality, don't waste your time.
GameSpot (Nov 16, 2009)
As a multiplayer game, Elite Squadron on the DS is a major disappointment. Diehard Star Wars fans who don't have access to a PSP may be willing to overlook the simplicity of the action just to experience the story and the sense of atmosphere of the single-player campaign, but this game has disappointingly little to offer anyone else.
AusGamers (Nov 19, 2009)
They gave it a red-hot go, but all this game really has going for it is its license — and it's not enough.
WiiDSFrance (Nov 22, 2009)
