PSX Nation (1997)
If you are looking for a baseball game and already own Triple Play 98 give it a try. Otherwise its not really worth the money.
GameSpot (Jul 25, 1997)
With so many baseball games coming out for the PlayStation this year, the battle for stickball supremacy is cutthroat. Is All-Star Baseball '97 Featuring Frank Thomas a good baseball title? Yes. Is it the best one on the market? No. Should you buy it? Sure - but only if you're buying two baseball titles this year because this game is really second best.
IGN (Jun 02, 1997)
Coming from an avid White Sox fan, not even Frank Thomas should have put his name on this one. With poor gameplay and below average graphics, this one is a definite out at first.
The batter/pitcher interface is an absolute nightmare, completely wrong from start to finish. The game lacks simulation modes for hardcore fans, and arcade fans won't touch it because of the terrible control.
GamePro (US) (Jul, 1997)
With the impressive Triple Play '98 available, gamers should avoid this diamond debacle at all costs. But if you must indulge, this is definitely rental material.
