Following the recent hype concerning the movie of the same name I was quite looking forward to play-testing the Grinch. First impressions weren\'\'t very good as the game opens up in a featureless cave where basic moves can be practiced. However upon entering downtown Who-ville I quickly warmed to the pleasant landscape and refreshing style of play. Once inside you will find a game as frustratingly addictive as you have ever played. If you are looking for something that plays similar to Spyro, but has puzzles as diverse as Tomb Raider, then the Grinch is for you.

The Grinch and his beloved dog, Max, try to ruin Christmas in Whoville in this video game for PlayStation and PC. Although the game audio is good, with classical music and impressive voice acting, outdated visuals spoil the fun. Better to see the movie or read the book.
IGN (Dec 06, 2000)
I have always been a huge fan of the original animated version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Chuck Jones is an animation god (OK, I exaggerate a tiny winy bit), and it had Boris Karloff (Frankenstien and the Mummy among others) as the narrator as well as The Grinch. Unfortunately just as the live action movie couldn't hold a candle to that legacy, neither can the videogame. The game just feels unfinished. If there was a little more direction in the missions, and the graphics were a little smoother, and the levels had some consistency in the level of difficulty, it may have been decent. As it stands right now, the game is painfully average.
If I had the energy, I'd be writing this review in a Seussian rhyme scheme. Unfortunately, The Grinch has sapped me of all my creative strength. The game initially seems benign, but the repetitive level goals, made difficult by the engine's inadequacies, get old and annoying amazingly fast. With most Crash and Spyro platformers going for $20, there is no need to see How The Grinch Stole My Christmas Money.
Gamekult (Dec 01, 2000)
GameSpot (Dec 20, 2000)
It's hard to believe that this is what Universal Interactive and Konami had in mind when envisioning the Grinch, a poorly animated game that's far too complex and tedious for its intended audience. As Dr. Seuss, may he rest in peace, would say: The game's been Grinched.
Game Over Online (Dec 08, 2000)
When the Grinch finally realizes the true meaning of Christmas and all is well again in Whoville, this title is simply a dreadful gaming experience. It lacks entertainment, atmosphere, colourful visuals, solid voiceovers, challenging puzzles, a steady camera, good controls, and anything else a game should have. It's gar… gar… garbage. The only thing it has going for it is its name, The Grinch, which kids will instantly fall for after having watched the movie. This holiday season, The Grinch is stealing something alright, but it's not Christmas.
Defunct Games (Dec 23, 2016)
The Grinch is not the worst platform game, But there's no denying it is very lame. The technical messes would not hold sway If the game itself wasn't a chore to play. Though it would seem ideal for this time of year, Move along, Who-folk, nothing to see here.
